Join Our Learning Community
MASA offers two membership pathways designed to support different family needs. Choose MASA Academy for a full-time virtual microschool experience or MASA Studio for guided learning, collaboration, and community alongside your homeschool or hybrid program.
Thoughtful Membership
Choosing the right learning community is an important decision. That’s why our membership process begins with getting to know your learner—their strengths, interests, needs, and goals—while helping your family determine whether MASA is the right fit.
Membership at MASA is about more than joining a school. It’s about becoming part of a relationship-centered community built on shared values, meaningful partnerships, and a commitment to helping every learner grow with confidence, creativity, and purpose.
The strongest learning communities begin with meaningful relationships, shared values, and the right partnership.
Our Membership Process
Our membership process is designed to thoughtfully guide families through each step while ensuring that the chosen membership pathway aligns with your child's learning needs, your family's educational goals, and the values of the MASA learning community.
-
Complete our brief inquiry form to tell us about your child, their strengths and learning needs, and what your family is looking for in an educational experience.
-
Once we receive your inquiry, we'll review the information you've shared and send you the next steps for continuing the membership process, including an invitation to schedule your Family Conversation.
-
Families will join Dr. Peay for a relaxed 25–30 minute virtual conversation to talk about their child, ask questions, discuss their educational goals, and learn more about the MASA experience.
Most importantly, this is an opportunity for us to determine together whether MASA is the right fit for your child and family.
-
Families who decide MASA feels like the right fit will be invited to complete the MASA Membership Application and submit the $75 nonrefundable application fee. This allows us to gather the additional information needed to move forward with your learner’s membership.
-
Once the membership application is complete, your child will be invited to a brief virtual Meet & Greet with Dr. Peay. This relaxed conversation gives us an opportunity to begin building a relationship, learn more about your child’s interests and strengths, and give them a chance to learn more about MASA.
-
Following the Learner Meet & Greet, families will receive a membership decision and information about next steps. Families who are offered membership will receive details about securing their learner’s place, completing required documents, and preparing to join the MASA community.

A full-time relationship-centered virtual microschool.
MASA Academy is our full-time virtual learning experience, designed for families seeking the structure, relationships, and community of a school while maintaining the flexibility of virtual learning. Learners participate in live, educator-led instruction Monday–Wednesday within a small, relationship-centered learning community, engaging in core academics through interdisciplinary Learning Journeys that integrate the arts, leadership, and social-emotional learning.
Community circles are embedded throughout the week, creating space for connection, reflection, learner voice, and relationship building. Thursday Studio Day extends the experience through small-group support, project collaboration, office hours, and individualized guidance. Learners also participate in in-person experiences throughout the year, creating additional opportunities for leadership, learner voice, collaboration, creativity, and community connection.

MASA Studio
A Flexible, Asynchronous Learning Program
MASA Studio is our flexible, asynchronous learning experience for families who want the MASA approach with greater independence in when and how learning happens. Learners move through interdisciplinary Learning Journeys that connect core academics with creativity, inquiry, inner work, reflection, leadership, and real-world application. Each Learning Experience builds knowledge and skills while giving learners opportunities to make meaningful connections, assess their growth, and demonstrate understanding in different ways. Families have the flexibility to move through each Journey on their own schedule while learners follow a clear, guided pathway toward a meaningful Culminating Project.
Six Learning Journeys. One Connected Experience.
Learning Journey 1 — Who Am I? is the first of six interconnected MASA Studio Learning Journeys. Each Journey is a complete learning experience while also developing another piece of the learner's academic, creative, personal, and leadership growth.
Learners begin by understanding who they are and progressively build toward understanding others and their communities, finding their voice, solving meaningful problems, communicating creatively, and using what they have learned to make a purposeful contribution.

MASA Studio is designed for families looking for more than traditional online coursework. It can complement a homeschool curriculum, support families creating a flexible or hybrid learning experience, or provide an enriching academic option for learners who need more creativity, choice, reflection, and connection in their learning.
MASA Studio may be a great fit for learners who:
Are homeschooled or learning through a flexible or hybrid model
Benefit from independent, self-paced learning with clear guidance and structure
Enjoy creativity, inquiry, research, and project-based learning
Need opportunities to connect academics to their interests, experiences, and the real world
Thrive when they have meaningful choices in how they learn and demonstrate understanding
Would benefit from developing greater self-awareness, independence, confidence, and leadership
-
MASA Studio is designed to help learners do more than complete assignments. Academic learning, creativity, inner work, reflection, and leadership are intentionally connected so learners understand what they are learning, why it matters, and what they can do with it.
Integrated Learning — Core academics connect across subjects and to meaningful, real-world ideas.
Inner Work & Reflection — Learners connect what they are learning to themselves, others, their experiences, and the world around them.
Choice & Creative Expression — Learners have meaningful choices in how they explore ideas and demonstrate understanding without changing the learning expectation.
Leadership Through Ownership — Learners practice making decisions, using their voice, solving problems, and taking responsibility for their learning.
Growth Over Completion — Self-assessment, reflection, revision, and goal setting help learners recognize and measure their own progress.
Learning That Builds — Each Learning Experience contributes to a larger Journey, culminating in a meaningful project that brings together academic understanding, creativity, reflection, and growth.
-
MASA Studio is an asynchronous learning experience, so there are no required daily class times. Learners access their Learning Journey online and move through a guided sequence of Learning Experiences at a pace that works for their family.
Each Journey integrates ELA, math, science, social studies, the arts, inner work, reflection, and leadership around a meaningful Driving Question. Learners investigate ideas, build academic skills, make connections, create original work, assess their own progress, and save meaningful evidence of their learning.
Each Learning Experience contributes to the larger Journey and ultimately leads to a Culminating Project where learners bring together what they have learned, how they have grown, and how they choose to communicate their understanding.
